The origin of this perfectly executed small park goes back to the second half of the 17th century, when František Rákoci ordered a hundred linden trees to be planted in these grounds, similar to those in Zborov in eastern Slovakia. At the turn of the 18th and 19th century the modernization of the plantings began. Still in the park and the surrounding area are magnificent Canadian poplars, which were brought by Count Aspermont from Holland. Anton Rochel, the count’s personal physician and famous Hungarian botanist, was instrumental in transforming the park in the English style.

After dividing the working spaces, including small garden architecture, artificial ruins, caves, antique-style churches and tombstones, and the renovation of the premises, a complete English park of 20 hectares was created. What has been preserved is the stone tower of the church, which once served as a lookout tower, the cemetery next to it with beautiful tombstones, a stone gate in the rear of the park, a Neo-Renaissance mausoleum, a tomb with reliefs of a knight, a sculpture of the ancient god Neptune in a pond and many other elements.

In addition to the six-stemmed protected linden and chestnut alley, worth seeing are pines, dogwood, sycamore, magnificent magnolias, Japanese maples, rhododendrons, roses, as well as rock plants, ivy, and plants climbing on the ground.

The fundamental aim behind the establishment of the national park was to preserve the authentic mountainous environment of the Tatras and to preserve the flora and fauna of the region. In 1993 these protected areas were included in the UNESCO list as an important biosphere reserve.

The entire territory of the national park, depending on the altitude, is divided into three belts – high altitude, with a predominance of alpine meadows, medium altitude with spruce forests and low altitude with birch forests and fir groves. From Terhová the only road leads to Vrátna, which together with the surrounding nature is the most picturesque area of the Lesser Fatra.

From the point of view of hiking trails in the area of Vrathna four areas can be distinguished: Tesnjava, Old Valley, New Valley and Stary Dvor.

Just behind Terhova the road goes through a spectacular entrance to the Vrátna – important from a tourist and local history point of view, the Tesnjava Canyon in the bend of the Vrátnjanka Creek. It is distinguished by many rock formations and water cascades. The national nature reserve includes the Tesnawy Canyon, the ridge and the adjacent slopes of Sokolija and Bobut. In Tesnjaves starts the so-called Zbojnicki Corridor, which passes through an interesting complex of rock formations. Beyond Tesniawy the Vratna is divided into the Old and New Valleys.

At the end of the Old Valley there is Huta Vratna. Near the bottom station of the funicular from the Snilov saddle, visitors can stop near the symbolic cemetery of the victims of the mountains and near the Skok waterfall. Hata Vratna is the starting point for excursions to the main ridge of the Krivan Fatra, where the highest peak of the Lesser Fatra, the Big Krivan (1709 m), is also located.

When viewed from Pribylina or Gib, it is easy to recognize its peak by its peculiar peak curvature, thanks to which it bears its name.

The first ascent of Krivan took place in the 19th century, and since then the mountain has been considered a symbol of national pride and national pilgrimage. Recently, the pilgrimage tradition has been renewed.

The top of Krivanj is the easiest and fastest to reach from the Three Chandeliers. The first serpentine green trail takes hikers to Grunik, which at the end of World War II witnessed fierce battles between partisans and German fascists. From Hrunik, the trail follows the slope of Pregiba to the steep stone Krivanski Chute.

The reward for the hard ascent to the summit is a magnificent panoramic view. A frequently used descent from the summit of Krivani is the trail marked in blue, which leads to Yamsky Plaque. From there, the highway takes you to Podbanský or Štrbský Ples.
